What I'm 100% on board with....
No propaganda here, just a few things I wholeheartedly believe in....
Hello - Happy bank holiday weekend if you’re in the UK! I’m feeling very relaxed after going to a gorgeous yoga and soundbath afternoon, where the time flew by! Also - I’m very proud of this peony that I’ve grown in my garden. Sadly, it is my only gardening triumph of the year but given that my garden is extremely neglected at the moment, I’m pretty chuffed with this!
There’s a trend going around on social media at the moment where people are sharing ‘all the propaganda they’re not buying into’ and they then share all the things they aren’t on board with - like getting up at 5am to start their ‘morning routine’ - I’m definitely in agreement on that one!
And this got me thinking about all the things that I AM 100% on board with - and I thought I’d share my list here…
Things I wholeheartedly believe:
You’re not burnt-out because you’re doing too much - it’s much deeper than that
Busy is NOT the same as productive
Our emotions drive everything we do - so learning how to acknowledge and embrace them is key - rather than ignore or be completely flooded by them….
….and your nervous system drives your emotions (as well many other things!) - so understanding how to navigate this is the missing piece.
Your sensitivity can be your superpower if you want it to be
Life is too short to take the safe and secure option if you’re dreaming of something more
Your intuition is rarely wrong
Your hormones, your nervous system and your burnout cycles are more related than we think they are.
Learning to listen to your body will transform your wellbeing AND your confidence.
Preventing and overcoming burnout involves making (often hard) decisions (and yet that’s so hard to do when you're under pressure and going at 100 miles an hour)
Understanding your needs and taking action to ensure these needs can be met will make life a lot easier for you (especially true if you’re neurodivergent)
Making decisions usually results in progress, even if it doesn’t work out they way you hoped - whereas staying stuck in indecision takes up your headspace, energy and trust in yourself.
The ability to take care of your own wellbeing is vital to good leadership
Your self belief is the most powerful thing that you possess - and like a plant, it deserves nurturing and tending to keep it thriving.
There’s no such thing as a ‘wrong decision’
Knowing your values and being able to embody and put these into action will save you lots of time, energy and heartache along the line.
The people you care about are always more important than work.
Having boundaries is not the same as successfully upholding them.
Healing from your burnout patterns isn’t linear and is definitely not an easy 3 step process that can be done in a weekend (sadly!) - but it 100% is possible with the right approach and support, plus a good dollop of self-compassion.
Connecting to nature and our inner cycles and seasons is an underrecognised element of health….(as are creativity and adventure!)
A cup of tea and a hot cross bun is the ultimate afternoon snack!
Well, that turned out longer than I expected! I’d love to hear which ones you most resonated with? And what are your ‘things’ that you wholeheartedly believe? I’d love to hear them!
Have a great rest of your weekend, thank you for reading! No podcast from me this week - but thank you so much for the messages and comments I’ve had about last week’s episode :) - which you can listen to here via Spotify or Apple Podcasts
Love, Rachael x
